Precautions - COVID-19

The Matej Bel University closely monitors the situation in relation with the disease COVID-19

 

In view of the evolution of the coronavirus infection COVID-19 in Europe and the intensity of mobility in the academic world, the management of the Matej Bel University has decided to issue the following measures for the students and staff of the Matej Bel University:

 

  • Classes at the Matej Bel University in full-time and external form continue without any restrictions. The situation regarding the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19 will be monitored and operationally evaluated by a task force set up for this purpose.

 

  • In the case of the emergence of coronavirus COVID-19 in the Slovak Republic, classes of the University of the Third Age at the Matej Bel University will be suspended immediately.

 

  • After returning to Slovakia from the risk areas, students and employees are advised to stay in self-isolation for two weeks outside any UMB premises, including student homes (employees can ask their superiors for home office or leave). Students are obliged to inform the relevant study department of their absence from their classes.

 

  • Participation in missions and exchange programs (e.g. Erasmus) to Italy, the People's Republic of China, South Korea and Iran is suspended until further notice.

 

  • It is recommended not to carry out planned business trips and exchange programs in areas with confirmed occurrence of coronavirus COVID-19.

 

  • For planned business trips to coronavirus-free areas, the Matej Bel University recommends its students and staff to:

- respect the travel recommendations of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic: https://www.mzv.sk/aktuality/koronavirus-2019,

- take appropriate travel insurance when traveling abroad,

- buy tickets with a possibility of cancellation,

- book accommodation with a possibility of cancellation,

- when traveling abroad, consider the possibility of registration via the form (Formulár) on the website of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic (or download the free application Svetobežka),

- when traveling abroad, be familiar with the contact details of the Slovak diplomatic mission in the country of travel.

 

 

  • We recommend not to invite students and colleagues from areas with confirmed coronavirus COVID-19 during the summer semester of academic year 2019/2020.

 

  • In case of spreading of coronavirus COVID-19 in the Slovak Republic, we recommend not to organize mass events in the summer semester of the academic year 2019/2020 at the Matej Bel University

 

  • In case of any changes in the development of the epidemiological situation, students and staff will be informed of the next steps.

 

  • For the purpose of continuously monitoring the evolution of the coronavirus infection COVID-19 and taking timely and effective measures, a temporary "UMB Working Group on Coronavirus COVID-19" was set up, consisting of the Rector of UMB, UMB’s Vice-Rectors, UMB ‘s Quaestor, deans of faculties, director of SÚZ, director of UMB Library, officer of CO (civil protection), officer of BOZP (Safety and health protection) and PO (Fire protection).
