Long-term development plan of the Faculty of Law, UMB
The Faculty of Law of the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica (hereinafter referred to as the "Faculty of Law" or "Faculty") was established on the basis of the decision of the Academic Senate of the University of Bratislava of 11 May 1995, based on the Resolution of the Government of the Slovak Republic No. 256 of 18 April 1995. The seat of the Faculty is the city of Banská Bystrica.
In accordance with the provisions of Section 1, Paragraph 2 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments to Certain Acts, as amended, the mission of the Faculty of Law, as part of the European Higher Education Area and the Common European Research Area, is to develop scientific and pedagogical work in the field of state and law sciences. Its aim is primarily to prepare highly qualified and erudite experts for comprehensive coverage of all areas of legal practice.
The Faculty's main activity is to provide, organize and ensure higher education within the framework of accredited study programs at bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels, further education and award academic and scientific-pedagogical degrees in the field of Law and related study programs. The Faculty conducts basic and applied research that corresponds to the needs of a knowledge-based society and the needs of social practice, and through its publishing and scientific activities it maintains and develops the values of social and legal science.
The long-term development plan of the Faculty of Law for the years 2021 - 2026 aims to strengthen the position of the Faculty as an academic institution that creates the prerequisites for the implementation of its strategic plans, which are oriented towards quality in the field of education, science and research and which will be preferred by both domestic and foreign students.
